LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Lafayette man is under arrest after a deadly stabbing occurred early Thursday at an apartment complex.

Kwame Riddle, 34, was arrested in the wake of the attack and detained without incident by a violent crimes police unit.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Briarwood Court at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Thursday on report of a stabbing.

Police arriving on scene discovered an injured man who ultimately would be declared dead despite the life-saving efforts of first responders.

Investigators ended up identifying Riddle as the suspect in the alleged murder. Riddle and the victim reportedly were familiar to each other.

Police said Riddle is being held on preliminary charges of murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon and more.

The Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office will decide official charges against Riddle.
