The La Crosse Democratic Party was shocked and saddened by the news that President Joe Biden is withdrawing from the 2024 election. As one of the most impactful Presidents of our lifetime, we were looking forward to another term of Biden delivering on the economy, job growth, union growth, infrastructure, manufacturing, reproductive rights and so much more.
The month between now and the Democratic National Convention will be a busy time, and there is still much we do not know. In the meantime, the LCDP wants to acknowledge President Biden’s sacrifice and patriotism in deciding to step down. Biden earned the vast majority of delegates going into the Democratic National Convention, and could have easily stayed in the race. Instead, he chose to step aside to ensure the media’s overblown concerns about his age and ability did not lead to a disastrous second term for Donald Trump. After a lifetime of service dedicated to this country, his final act was to sacrifice personal ambition for the benefit of all Americans.
We look forward to defeating Donal Trump in November, and vow to double our efforts to honor President Joe Biden.
