KOKOMO, Ind. — A man was arrested on Thursday after police said he caused severe head trauma to a 2-month-old child, the Kokomo Police Department announced on Friday.
According to a press release from KPD, the baby was placed under the care of 28-year-old Deangelo M. Harvey.
On Sunday, one of the infant’s relatives found the child with severe head trauma and transported them to an area hospital. KPD said the baby was then transported to an Indianapolis hospital for further treatment. An investigation by the Howard County Division of Child Services and KPD then led officers to uncover further information.
This resulted in Harvey’s arrest taking place on Thursday, after police issued a warrant out of a Howard County court.
Per KPD, Harvey was arrested in the 5000 block of South Webster Street and currently faces the following charges:
- Neglect of a dependent (Level 3 Felony)
- Domestic violence battery on a child less than 14 years of age (Level 3 Felony)
- Intimidation (Level 6 Felony)
The child was last reported to be in critical but stable condition.
KPD said the case is still under investigation. Those with information are encouraged to call the department at (765) 456-7017, download the “Kokomo PD” app or text “TIPKPD” and then a space to 847411.
