During a Wednesday morning press conference at the Jackson Medgar-Wiley Evers International Airport, LaShundre Reeves with K9 partner Bruno, thanked officials there for the opportunity to help keep the airport a safe, secure environment.
Reeves, with her K9 partner Bruno and Michael Mabry with his K9 partner Dallas, are two members of a three-member transportation security specialist-explosive detection canine handler (TSS-EDCH) team being added to the airport’s security.
Reeves moved up the ranks after a stint as a transportation security officer in Atlanta. She and Bruno completed training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, in 2017. Before this recent transfer to the Jackson airport, Reeves and Bruno have been support security for various airports around the country, and for major events like Super Bowls, Formula 1, the Indy 500 and the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Mabry began his career with TSA in 2021 at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport as a transportation security administration officer. In 2023, he was hired as an explosive detection canine handler and, like Reeves, he also trained at Lackland Air Force Base at the Canine Handler Training Center. He also joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in 2010 and served with the Military Police.
