He was pocket watching in church.

A Kansas City pastor ripped his congregation as “poor, broke, busted and disgusted” for not buying him a luxury watch.

Carlton Funderburke at Church of the Well released an apology video on Tuesday.

Funderburke’s comments on Aug. 7 were exposed in a TikTok from the Kansas City Defender, in which he specifically asks for a Movado.

“This is how I know you’re still poor, broke, busted and disgusted, because of how you’ve been honoring me. I’m not worth your McDonald’s money? I’m not worth your Red Lobster money?” he said in the video. “And y’all know I asked for one last year. Here it is all the way in August and I still ain’t got it.”

He pointed out that Movado timepieces can be purchased at Sam’s Club. They go for between $300 and $3,000.

“I would’ve left so fast and loudly oh no sir,” one person commented.

In his apology, Funderburke said the video lacked context but acknowledged “no context will suffice to explain the hurt and anguish caused by my words.”

“I’ve spoken to those I am accountable to and have received their correction and instruction,” Funderburke said in the apology. “I have also privately apologized to our church, who has extended their love and support to me.”

Thou shalt not covet a Movado watch.
