SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — June has been a month to remember in the weather department.

We end the month of June this weekend, and it will be one to remember.

After early morning rain, the sun came out in Sioux Falls, but it was another day of measurable rain in the the books. But it will not be enough to bring us to the wettest June on record for Sioux Falls, which was in 2014.

June of 2014 saw nearly 14 inches of rain in Sioux Falls. We’re 2 1/2 inches away from that this June, but the 11.20″ is good for second wettest.

This year, Sioux Falls has had measurable rain for 16 days in June, that’s three days behind the record of 19 days also set in 2014. And still behind the 17 days of measurable rain in 1967 and 1947.

Surprisingly, temperatures haven’t been cool. For the month, SIoux Falls is sitting at it’s climate average high at 81 degrees.

We’ll get a break from the rain this weekend as cooler and drier air moves in. But as we start July on Monday, we’re already watching for strong to severe storms that can also bring heavy rain.
