From the jump I’m going to say that Joker: Folie à Deux is both a little better than most people say, while somehow being worse in a lot of ways for which I wasn’t prepared. But, and this might be a hot take, so I guess you can take my opinion with a bucket of salt… I didn’t think the first Joker was very good either. Co-writer and director Todd “I made three Hangover movies” Phillips’s 2019 Joker movie just felt like he was a big fan of Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy and also had the rights to play around with a comic book character.
