BROOKVILLE, Ind. — Detectives from the Indiana State Police are investigating after a woman reportedly shot and killed her older brother in Brookville Thursday morning.
According to ISP, officers from the Brookville Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department were called around 1:40 a.m. to the Riverfront Apartments on Fairfield Avenue. They had received a call that a person had been shot.
When police arrived, they located a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. ISP said that while officers and EMS provided medical assistance, the man was soon pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was identified as 32-year-old Ronald W. Pence.
ISP said police identified the alleged shooter as Pence’s sister, 29-year-old Crystal L. Pence, who was taken into custody at the scene. According to preliminary investigation, Crystal shot Ronald in the apartment and stayed at the scene until police arrived.
While the investigation is still ongoing, Crystal Pence currently faces a preliminary charge of felony murder. She was transported to the Franklin County Jail where she was incarcerated.
