LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — Indiana State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting at the Hollywood Casino Hotel in Lawrenceburg that left a man dead Saturday morning.

According to ISP, a disturbance was reported on the fourth floor of the hotel around 1 a.m. ISP said the preliminary information told officers that an adult male was both threatening and pursuing another person with a knife.

ISP then stated that the suspect began firing a gun on the fourth floor. Officers soon arrived and located the man in the hallway, ordering him to drop the gun. The man did not comply and shot at officers.

Per ISP, officers returned fire, leading the suspect to die at the scene. No officers were injured, and only one person sustained minor injuries from the suspect’s knife prior to police arriving. ISP said it is believed that this victim did not know the suspect.

ISP said the suspect’s identity, as well as the identities of the officers involved, are being withheld at this time.
