TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — An investigation has been launched after an inmate in Tippecanoe County died Thursday night.
According to an Indiana State Police release, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and Tippecanoe County Community Corrections requested assistance from ISP to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate.
ISP said preliminary information indicates that staff at the Tippecanoe County Community Corrections facility were informed on Dec. 12 around 9:30 p.m. that an inmate was experiencing a potential medical emergency. Medical aid was immediately provided to the inmate as staff arrived to assist.
The inmate was then transported to an area hospital where they later died, according to ISP. The Tippecanoe County coroner will release the identity of the deceased individual at a later time.
ISP confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play as they continue investigating the death.
