JUNE 24, 2022:

A state prison inmate placed on escape status in March 2022 is back in custody.

Inmate Gaige McCune was apprehended June 21, 2022, in Howell, MI. He is currently housed at the Livingston County Jail.

McCune and Inmate Anthony McDonald left their work release jobsite March 29, 2022, without authorization and failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center at the appointed time. McDonald was arrested in Minnehaha County March 30.

McCune is serving a sentence for second-degree burglary out of Brown County.
Failure to return to custody following an assignment or temporary leave granted for a specific purpose or limited period constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

 

MARCH 31, 2022:

One of two minimum-security state prison inmates who were placed on escape status this week is back in custody.

Inmate Anthony McDonald was apprehended in Minnehaha County March 30, 2022.

Inmates McDonald and Gaige McCune left their work release jobsite in Yankton without authorization March 29 and failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center at the appointed time.

McCune remains on escape status.

McCune, age 25, is a white male. He is 5-feet-7 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. McCune is serving a sentence for second-degree burglary out of Brown County.

Two minimum-security state prison inmates have been placed on escape status.

Information from the South Dakota Department of Corrections says inmates Gaige McCune and Anthony McDonald left their work release jobsite in Yankton without authorization today (March 29, 2022). They failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center at the appointed time.

McCune, age 25, is a white male. He is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. McCune is serving a sentence for second-degree burglary out of Brown County.

McDonald, age 21, is a white male. He is 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. McDonald is serving sentences for receiving/transferring a stolen vehicle, third-degree burglary, grand theft and DWI third offense from Minnehaha County and possession of a controlled substance from Clay County.
