NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — An Indianapolis man faces multiple charges after being tased and arrested during an argument with a referee at a Noblesville sports complex.
Brandon D. Austin, 38, was arrested Monday and charged with intimidation, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. He has since been booked into the Hamilton County Jail.
Noblesville police officers were called around 6:30 p.m. Monday to Mojo Up Sports Complex on Boden Road for a disorderly man who was shouting and acting aggressively toward a referee. The man – identified as Austin – had been kicked out of the complex prior to police being called.
Officers arrived to find Austin standing in the entranceway of the complex. Court documents say he was still yelling about the referee and being aggressive toward families trying to leave the building.
A police report states that Austin began walking aggressively toward the officers with clenched fists and shoulders back. Officers claim he then yelled out how he should “beat their a**” before asking why they weren’t doing anything about the referee he was arguing with.
“After repeated attempts failed and [Austin] became increasingly more belligerent, officers attempted to place the subject under arrest,” NPD said. “[Austin] resisted officer control efforts and a Taser was deployed.”
NPD said the Taser deployment was “effective” and Austin was arrested without further incident. The suspect was then taken by ambulance to Riverview Health Hospital for a check-up. After being released a short time later, he was booked into jail on the following charges:
- Intimidation
- Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Class A Misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct
- Class B Misdemeanor
An initial hearing in Austin’s case was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
