BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — An Indianapolis woman died in a crash at an Interstate 65 rest area in Bartholomew County on Saturday.

According to a press release from Indiana State Police, troopers were called to I-65 southbound to investigate a two-vehicle crash around 9:45 a.m. After an investigation, police determined a 2011 Honda CRV and a 2020 International semi were involved in a crash.

Troopers believe 45-year-old Omotope G. Oyediran of Indianapolis was driving the CRV southbound on I-65 near mile marker 73 when she traveled off the west side of the roadway for an unknown reason. After she left the roadway, Oyediran struck the semi, which was parked at a nearby rest area.

The semi was occupied by its driver at the time of the crash. A loaded trailer was also attached to the semi when the crash happened.

The semi’s driver was not injured during the crash. Oyediran, however, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office.

ISP is still investigating the crash. Toxicology tests have been conducted, and their results are currently pending.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
