UNCASVILLE, Conn. — The Indiana Fever’s season is officially over after losing Game 2 of its WNBA playoff series against the Connecticut Sun Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The third-seeded Sun beat the sixth-seeded Fever 87-81 thanks to another dominant performance by WNBA All-Star Alyssa Thomas. The forward led the way for the Sun with 19 points, 13 assists and five rebounds.

Heading into Wednesday night’s game, the Fever knew a victory was required to avoid elimination in the first-round best-of-three series after suffering a 93-69 loss in Game 1 on Sept. 22.

The Fever trailed 41 to 34 at halftime as the Sun looked to continue its momentum in the final two quarters. The game reached a critical point when Clark and Co. reduced the deficit and made it a tied game at 73 even with 2:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Sun still managed to walk away as the series winners and move to the next round of the WNBA playoffs after seeing the Fever off in the final moments of the game.

Caitlin Clark ended Game 2 with 25 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Aliyah Boston recorded 16 points and 19 rebounds while Kelsey Mitchell posted 17 points.

This was the Fever’s first appearance in the WNBA Playoffs since 2016.
