INDIANAPOLIS – Police say a woman died in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning on the northwest side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police were dispatched just after 6 a.m. to the 4000 block of North High School Road where they found a woman lying in the road.

Investigators believe a vehicle struck her. IMPD said North High School Road was shut down from Gateway Drive to Commons Drive.

“This has been all too often we’ve seen this,” said Tommy Thompson, public information officer for IMPD. “This roadway will be closed for some time.”

At this time, the incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run, Thompson said. The woman was found on the southbound side, although police were uncertain which direction she was walking.

Thompson said investigators didn’t have any information about a vehicle or suspect at this time. They were checking local businesses for any surveillance video.

Anyone with information or video of the crash should contact IMPD or Crime Stoppers.
