INDIANAPOLIS — A teen was arrested in relation to a shooting in late September on the south side of Indianapolis, according to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
On Thursday, detectives with the department’s violent crimes task force, as well as the covert robbery unit, served a search warrant on a vehicle in the 8000 block of South Madison Avenue. A post on the department’s Facebook page said a stolen firearm was recovered.
A teen, identified by police as a 17-year-old, was located inside the vehicle, according to the release. The teen was arrested in relation to being involved in a shooting in the 8500 block of Madison Avenue on Sept. 26.
At around 5:58 p.m. on Sept. 26, IMPD officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 8500 block of Madison Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man who had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. A second crime scene was found nearby, in the 8000 block of Madison Avenue.
The release said that the teen was arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, robbery and aggravated assault after an investigation by the department’s aggravated assault detectives. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
