INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after a man was shot and killed on the city’s east side Friday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 8:35 p.m. to the 1500 block of N. Arlington Avenue in response to reports that an adult male was shot in the area. IMPD said officers arrived and found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical personnel, according to IMPD.
IMPD said preliminary information indicates some type of disturbance involving the victim and another individual or group occurred before the shooting.
IMPD confirmed it is investigating the shooting as a targeted incident and reassured the public there is no immediate threat.
Detectives remain on the scene and are working to obtain video footage that could shed light on the moments leading up to the deadly encounter.
