INDIANAPOLIS — Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a man was found dead on Wednesday afternoon in a downtown apartment.

According to a news release from IMPD, officers with the downtown district were dispatched to an apartment in the 500 block of Massachusetts Avenue for a welfare check.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they reportedly located an adult man inside an apartment who had trauma-related injuries. The man was pronounced dead after additional first responders arrived at the scene.

On Thursday, officials with the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who was found dead as 65-year-old Forest Hill Jr.

The incident was initially reported as a death investigation by IMPD on Wednesday afternoon but was later classified as a homicide on Thursday morning.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the death, according to the release.
