INDIANAPOLIS — A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday in relation to an active armed robbery warrant.

According to a post on IMPD’s social media, Devon Beverly was arrested on an active armed robbery warrant in Marion County, as well as preliminary charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and operating a vehicle while never receiving a license.

On Wednesday, the post read that detectives with the department’s violent crimes unit were able to locate Beverly who was known to have the active armed robbery warrant.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Round Lake Road and Beverly was taken into custody without incident. The post read that detectives learned during their investigation that the vehicle that Beverly was driving had been reported stolen a few days prior.

During a search of the vehicle, a handgun was reportedly located in the front passenger side floorboard of the vehicle. Beverly reportedly confessed to possessing the firearm and putting it in the floorboard of the vehicle during the traffic stop.
