CUMBERLAND, Ind. — A juvenile is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Cumberland Thursday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 10 p.m. in response to reports of a hit-and-run occurring in the 1100 block of North Cumberland Road.

IMPD says, a group of juvenile males were walking in the grass and the juvenile that was struck was riding his bicycle on the edge of the roadway without lights when a vehicle heading southbound struck the bicycle.

The victim was taken to Riley Children’s Hospital in what police describe as “very critical condition.”

Police say the vehicle that struck the juvenile did not stay on scene.

Investigators are looking for any witnesses or video of the incident as they do not have information on a suspect, and no one stay at the scene to talk to police.
