INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after seven juveniles between the ages of 12 and 17 were injured in a shooting in downtown Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of South Illinois Street & West Maryland Street after hearing gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they located a large group of juveniles, and among them, six had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but has been upgraded to stable. The other five were transported in stable condition.

Investigators say a seventh victim arrived at an area hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. They were reportedly in stable condition, police say.

Investigators say they do not have anyone in custody, but do believe more than one weapon was used in the incident.
