INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were shot on the east side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 5400 block of East 38th Street around 4:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

A short time after first responders made it to the 5400 block of East 38th Street, additional officers responded to the intersection of East 38th Street and North Arlington Avenue. At that location, they found a second individual with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

IMPD reported that at least one of the victims is in critical condition. Police did not provide a condition for both victims in their media notification.

Investigators believe the two shooting scenes are related, though they did not specify exactly how they are connected. The scenes are located less than one mile from each other.
