INDIANAPOLIS — Two individuals were arrested earlier this month after a traffic stop on the near northwest side of Indianapolis uncovered weapons and drugs.
According to a post on social media from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers with IMPD’s northwest district violence reduction team, as well as detectives with the violent crimes task force. conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Lafayette Road at around 1 p.m. on Nov. 7.
During the stop, officers reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. After officials on scene learned the identities of both individuals in the vehicle, 27-year-old Iren Anderson and 23-year-old Emmanuel Meredith-Stewart, the post read that they learned Anderson to have multiple outstanding felony warrants.
Anderson’s outstanding felony warrants included:
- Possession of a machine gun
- Battery resulting in injury to a pregnant woman.
Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle. The post read that suspected marijuana, suspected crack cocaine as well as two firearms were reportedly located inside the vehicle. Officials said that the two firearms were equipped with extended magazines.
Anderson was placed under arrest for his warrants and was also preliminarily charged with unlawful possession of a handgun with a prior felony. Meredith-Stewart was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a firearm while being a prohibited person, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
The post read that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions for both Anderson and Meredith-Stewart.
