A few months ago, my best friend gifted me a pocket-sized Mini-Truff hot sauce for the holidays. For a year without many bright spots, this little condiment was just the bit of joy I needed to warm my tired soul (and turn up the heat on my scrambled eggs).
Now that my confession is out of the way, I can confidently say I’m aboard the Truff Train. It’s more sweet than spicy, thanks to the addition of agave nectar, so if hot, hot heat is what you’re after, then look elsewhere. As far as ingredients go, it’s made with red chili peppers infused with black truffle oil, organic agave nectar, and cumin, the combination of which results in sweet, smoky, truffle-y perfection. My favorite application for Truff is of the breakfast variety, but it’s also great on french fries, burgers, wings, deviled eggs — the sky is the limit, really.
In addition to tasting really great, the packaging is unmatched. Even the mini version comes in a super sturdy, almost-luxe glass bottle, with a glossy geometric cap. It’s so pretty you’ll wish you could leave it out on the counter just to look at. (You can’t, though; it needs to be refrigerated upon opening.)
If you’re now wondering who spends $17.98 for 6 ounces of hot sauce, the answer is … a lot of people. Turns out, Truff is the #1 best-selling hot sauce on all of Amazon, and it has more than 12,000 customer ratings (most of which are five-star reviews). Speaking of, here’s one of them:
