Brian Callahan is calling the offensive plays. He is consulting with Nick Holz and his other offensive assistants, but he is the decision-maker. His play calling against the Commanders is highly questionable as if he didn’t pay much attention to his opponent this week. The Commanders have a poor run defense and a solid pass defense, yet there were instances where three incomplete passes resulted in punting the ball, when if a run had been called, maybe the offense could have moved down the field.
Defensively, not having Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat on the field more really hurt. Sure, they helped the special teams unit, but the Titans’ defensive interior desperately needs them on the field. Yes, the players need to execute the plays that are called, but the coaching staff has to have the right strategy in place, and they simply got it wrong on Sunday.
