GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is out with a new TV ad that accuses U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, of lying because “that’s what career politicians do when they get in trouble.”

Hovde’s campaign said it’s running statewide on broadcast, cable and digital and is part of a $9.3 million buy.

Baldwin and those backing her have run a series of ads knocking Hovde over his ties to California, including a multi-million dollar home there and a bank that he owns. He’s also been knocked over his comments about whether those in nursing homes are in a condition to vote.

Hovde says in the ad the truth is he was born and lives in Wisconsin, he’s never run a nursing home and “of course I believe seniors should vote.”

Hovde says the false attacks will continue because Baldwin has nothing to run on and her record has “failed us on inflation, the border and crime.” Hovde closes the spot saying he approves the message because “it’s time for change.”
