GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde’s campaign is up with a new TV ad calling Baldwin’s spots “nasty” and accusing her of “never” telling the truth.
The ad is in response to a spot from Baldwin that says Hovde wants to raise the retirement age for Social Security. During an appearance before the Milwaukee Rotary yesterday, Hovde said he wants to raise the retirement age to collect full benefits for those 40 and under due to increased life expectancy, but wouldn’t change anything for those on the program.
The spot features a couple who appeared in a previous Hovde ad created with the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
They say it’s “malarkey” that Hovde wants to raise the retirement age. The woman says the program will go bankrupt in eight years, as the man expresses astonishment.
“You’re surprised? Washington spends money like crazy,” the woman says.
“And Baldwin supports all of it,” the man adds.
