SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The United States House of Representatives voted on and passed an $895 billion defense bill with a military pay raise in it Wednesday.

The bill includes a nearly 15 percent pay raise for junior enlisted service members.
It also funds preparations at Ellsworth Air Force base for the new B-21 Raider stealth bomber.

“You know I’ve been to the base a number of times in the last few years. There is a tremendous amount of construction and activity that goes on, we are really, this is about taking a military platform from 50 and 60 years ago and replacing it with the most technological flying machine in the history of the world,” Rep. Dusty Johnson said.

The B-21 is currently undergoing further flight testing. The first flight was just over a year ago. There is no firm date for its arrival in South Dakota.
