STURGIS, S.D. (KELO) — Hotrods are making their way through the Black Hills en route to Idaho.
Goodguys Rod & Custom Association hosts several car shows each year as well as taking a large group of hotrod owners on a small tour.
Goodguys Hall of Fame Tour is designed differently each year but always has the same goal in mind.
“Destinations and starting points that you know, we think make a really fun tour. So a combination of National Parks, a combination of really cool hotrod shops, and really cool museums like the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum along the way,” COO Goodguys Rod & Custom Association Andrew Ebel said.
The Goodguys Hall of Fame Tour each year has about 80% to 85% of members return for their brand new destination trip with a couple of new members added in every year to show off their hotrods and have a good time with like-minded drivers.
“It’s all about the people. We use the cars just to get us together. It’s the people that make the fun out of the whole deal. We don’t have to have everybody in to have a special car,” Driver Harley Alcox said.
The group stopped by Mount Rushmore yesterday and is now riding through the winding roads of the Black Hills.
“You know it’s awesome to own the car but it’s more fun to actually get out and play with the car. So yeah you get on these open highways in places like South Dakota, or Wyoming, Montana it’s a special place to cruise your car and it really just becomes a hotroders playground. So yeah, it’s special to hit these roads,” Ebel said.
“We’ve been here twice with the car, we were here a couple years ago with it. And just for me to drive around out here, I get a real kick out of it. It’s a good time, you know,” Alcox said.
Each year the Goodguys Hall of Fame Tour drives through a new and different part of America.
