SOUTH DAKOTA (KELO) — Good morning KELOLAND! We have another hot summer day ahead with hazy skies in most of the region.

Our day planner for Sioux Falls includes that hazy sky and temperatures in the mid 80s by late afternoon.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed over SW MN yesterday. Those thunderstorms have now moved into central and northern Iowa.

The weather headlines over the coming days include the topics of heat and fire weather in western KELOLAND. This heatwave could last several days, well into the first week of August.

The map below shows the Fire Weather Watch for western SD.

Relative humidity values will drop in western SD today and tomorrow. You can see the maps below show levels around 10-20% both days.

The hourly forecast also shows numbers in the 80s today and tomorrow in far eastern KELOLAND. The heat, however, will expand farther to the east this weekend.

Get used to the hot weather. The latest 8-14 day forecast agrees with our thinking as temperatures will stay in the 90s on average into the first week of August.
