SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We have a follow up to a story we told you about earlier this month and it’s exciting news.
If you remember, we told you the story about Ivy, the eight year old English Bulldog who went missing on April first, two weeks ago in the Chester area.
We are happy to report Ivy has been found.
“I was shaking, a little teary eyed,” Ivy’s owner Sarah Owan said.
It’s the reunion Sarah Owan was hoping for, because she never lost hope.
The Owans spent two weeks organizing daily searches for Ivy; in the fields, ditches, and waterways around their Chester home.
They even offered a $2,500 reward for her return.
Then just Monday afternoon, one of her friends, spotted Ivy in a field about a mile north of their home.
So she told him to take a picture and send it to her.
“He sat on the ground and called her over, she walked over to him and laid down for belly rubs and put her in the truck and brought her home,” Owan said.
The Owans had Ivy checked out by their vet this morning. She had lost six pounds in those two weeks, but other than that, she seems to be fine.
Her gut tells her Ivy was never lost.
“I always told my husband, somebody is going to drop her off, she’s going to be found I just knew somebody had her,” Owan said.
Because of all the publicity surrounding Ivy’s disappearance, She thinks the person got scared and dropped Ivy off a mile north of their home.
“I think that’s what happened,” Owan said.
No matter where Ivy’s been since April 1, the Owans are dog gone happy to have Ivy back, back at home.
The Owans paid their friend the $2,500 Monday night.
She said at first he didn’t want to take it, but they insisted.
We were hoping to talk with him for this story, but he wasn’t available.
