INDIANAPOLIS — High School wrestling is now an official women’s sport for the first time in Indiana.
“It’s really cool IHSAA has finally recognized the growth and development of this sport,” said Jim Tonte, head wrestling coach for Franklin Community High School. “It’s nice to see these girls recognized for their accomplishments.”
With all that’s been achieved women’s team are still in need of financial support. “This is just an expense that some athletic departments aren’t really ready for,” said Tina Tonte, wrestling coach for Franklin Community High School.
