In its 15th year, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) is gearing up for the summer with a new slate of participating restaurants and vendors for diners to enjoy starting this Friday, May 24th.
With new attractions and programming, sponsored by Independence Blue Cross, DRWC is also awaiting to release the Park at Penn’s Landing very soon. But as Philadelphians get ready to check out these upcoming events, DRWC has officially announced their upcoming new spots to eat for 2024 Summer on the Waterfront to Eater Philly.
Here’s what to eat at Cherry Street Pier and Spruce Street Harbor Park on the Waterfront:
Cherry Street Pier
In collaboration with DRWC, the team from Cantina La Martina, La Placita at Cherry Street Pier will feature three new spots each housed in their own retrofitted trolley. La Placita will feature cuisine inspired by Latin quarters throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Diners can expect street foods, cocktails, local artists, music, and dancing. Cantina la Martina will be serving Mexican street food, La Placita will be offering some Puerto Rican Chinchorreo delights, and Irv’s Ice Cream will be selling some festive ice cream flavors that will compliment the Latin vibes.
La Placita
At this trolley, James Beard Award nominated Chef Dionicio Jimenez and the team behind Cantina La Martina will be feature a menu that’s focused on Puerto Rican dishes such as guacabori (a dish with green plantains), canoas (a dish with whole sweet plantain and ground beef picadillo), a mixed seafood salad, and more.
Irv’s Ice Cream
At this trolley, Chef Ilissa Shapiro will serve cold and sweet treats such as chocolate peanut butter brownies, brown butter pecan flavors, a vanilla sundae with fun toppings, and more.
Cantina la Martina
This Mexican concession trolley will be serving lively favorites such as nachos, Fritos burritos, esquites, churros with chocolate, and more.
Spruce Street Harbor Park
This section of the Waterfront features some all-star favorites, such as Philly Taco, French Toast Bites, and Chickie’s & Pete’s with exclusive menu items to the park (such as fried shrimp, cold shrimp, and a signature cheesesteak).
Little Fish
The beloved Bella Vista BYOB is bringing much anticipated fresh seafood dishes to the Waterfront such as fluke hoagies, fluke wraps, raw oysters, shrimp cocktails, and more.
Somerset Splits
Known as the Sundae Palace located in Port Richmond, diners can expect Somerset Splits to offer daily specials, reinvent classics, and serve favorites such as push-pops.
