What are you up to this weekend? We’re driving up to Mohonk Mountain House for a night — we’ve never been but I’ve heard good things. The boys are excited for s’mores and indoor archery, and I’m psyched that the weekend is magic themed. (Remember this cool mentalist?) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web…

Omg, what a genius way to choose movies.

Chocolate oat cookies, yum.

A German home with gorgeous beams, of all things.

Wise words. “When you go out into the woods and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens… You just allow it. You appreciate the tree. The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. That judging mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees.”

My week with a no-needles lip filler.” This was a wild ride, and I loved the last paragraph. (NYMag)

Meanwhile, I’ve found this lip plumping balm actually works.

Tom Hanks’s two-ingredient cocktail. Would you try it?

The boys and I have gotten very into this game.

Cute colorblock sneakers.

Have you seen the reality dating show Back in the Groove? The women are legitimately cool.

A bonkers highway.

Plus, two reader comments:

Says Kara on what place do you call home: “My husband and I say that home is a book with chapters. My childhood chapter was San Diego: bougainvillea, rollerblading near the beach, Baja fish tacos. My adolescent chapter was Colorado: snowboarding, Burt’s Bees lotion, making out in cars with frosty windows. My college chapter was New York City: poetry readings, dive bars, heartbreak. My early adulthood, getting married, and having babies chapter was Portland: rainy mossy forests, coffee rituals, river swimming. And now we’re moving to Bend for (hopefully) the rest of our small children’s time with us. The littlest will probably only ever remember Bend: skiing, ponderosa pine smell, porch guitar playing. There’s a chapter for every home.”

Says Noelle on my trusty dinner outfit: “A year ago, my husband and I were sitting at the bar of our favorite red-sauce joint, when the couple next to us started arguing. The woman literally threw her drink in the man’s face!!! It was the greatest date night ever. We still talk about it to this day and have half jokingly discussed hiring ourselves out to restaurants as the drink-in-the-face couple to add some spice to other people’s date nights.”
