SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – With Halloween on a weekday this year, many businesses are celebrating the holiday this weekend. Here’s a guide to all of the spooky events in the KELOLAND area.

Spooky Events

Sioux Falls Zombie Walk, Oct. 26

Zombies will be back on the streets of downtown on Saturday. The parade and walk start at 1 p.m. at 8th and Railroad. Registration for the walk is from 12-2 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and kids under 12 are free. There will also be a photo contest with prizes for the best costume at 4 p.m.

Halloween Bar Crawl, Oct. 26

The 7th annual Downtown Halloween Bar Crawl will be Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight. The event will start at Rough Cut Social with stops at Glacial Lakes Distillery, Lucky’s Bar, Hello Hi, Tommy Jack’s, Wiley’s Tavern and Wood Grain Brewery. There is also a $1,000 costume contest.

Spooky Seas, Oct. 26 

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Butterfly House & Aquarium will be celebrating Halloween. The event will feature a pirate themed photo op, treasure map, goodie bags and an appearance from the Little Mermaid. Tickets are $15 for adults, $11 for kids and $13 for seniors. 

Mortimer’s Monstrous Halloween, Oct. 26

The Oakwood Lakes State Park is hosting a Halloween festival from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday. The event will have activities like apple slingshots, trolley rides, scavenger hunt, trick or treating, yard games and crafts. 

Spooky Science, Oct. 26 

The Washington Pavilion’s Kirby Science Discovery Center is hosting a spooky event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees will be able to explore the art and science parts of the museum with a spooky twist. Costumes are encouraged. Admission costs $15 for adults, $12.50 for kids and free for anyone under 2 years old. 

Underwater Pumpkin Patch, Oct. 27

Kids will be bobbing for pumpkins at the Pierre Aquatic Center on Sunday. The event starts at 12:15 p.m. and is free for YMCA members. Non-YMCA members must pay the pool admission.

Haunted Houses

Haunted Maze, Oct. 25-26

The Heartland Country Corn Maze in Harrisburg is celebrating 25 years. Although their regular season has ended, they will be open Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids 10 and under. 

Terror 29 Haunted House, Oct. 25-26

Terror 29 in Brandon is open from 7-11 p.m. this weekend. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for fast passes. The haunted house will also be open for Halloween on Thursday night. Their annual Lights Out event is November 1-2. 

Twisted Nightmare Haunted House October 25-26

This is the 10th anniversary for Twisted Nightmare on the east side of Sioux Falls. The haunted house is open from 7 p.m. to midnight this weekend. They will also be open for Halloween and Friday and Saturday next week. Tickets for the haunted house are $20 a person, with an extra $15 for the escape room. Twisted Nightmare raises money for the SD Fraternal Order of Peace and Feeding South Dakota.

Fear Asylum, Oct. 25-26 

The Fear Asylum in Brookings is open from 7-11 p.m. this weekend. Tickets for general admission are $25, fast passes are $35 and VIP are $55. The haunted house will also be open next weekend. 

The Jaycees Feargrounds, Oct. 25-26

The Jaycees Feargrounds haunted house at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight this weekend. The last ticket is sold at 11 p.m. Tickets cost $12 online and $17 at the gate. Fast passes are an additional $10. Next Friday and Saturday will be the final run for the year with the special Black Out Night.

Trunk or Treats

Sensory Friendly Trunk or Treat, Oct. 25

Teachwell Solutions is hosting a sensory friendly, adaptive trunk or treat for special needs children. The event is from 5-7 p.m. on Friday

Peace Lutheran Church, Oct. 26

The church’s trunk or treat is from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Amy Stockberger Real Estate, Oct. 26

The real estate company is hosting a trunk or treat from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday.
