INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a burglary on the east side Thursday morning, where two people allegedly wiped the shelves of a grocery store clean.
IMPD responded to a report at around 7:36 a.m. to the Food Mart location on E 21st Street. Upon arrival, they discovered two suspects, a man and a woman, who are currently being investigated.
According to a news release, the duo stole $7,000 from a cash register, various tobacco products valued around $1,000 and miscellaneous groceries valued around $2,000.
IMPD said that the “grocery shelves [were] wiped out,” but an inventory has not yet been completed as to what specifically was stolen. No weapons were reported at the scene.
The two suspects have not yet been named. The investigation remains ongoing.
