A person was killed on Tuesday afternoon in a police shooting in Evans in Weld County, according to the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team.
Greeley Police responded to a call around 11:51 a.m. that reported a suspicious person who was allegedly armed in the 4300 block of 37th Street. Officers arrived and found the suspect to be armed and attempted deescalation efforts, the release said.
Police said the suspect did not cooperate and they employed less-lethal tactics, but eventually one officer shot the person. The suspect was then transported to a hospital and pronounced dead, the release said.
The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating into the fatal police shooting. The suspect was not identified by police and the investigation is ongoing.
