Georgia Public Broadcasting will air two films adaptations of recent productions by The Atlanta Opera over the next two weekends. First up, airing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, is Handel’s Julius Caesar, a Baroque masterpiece centered on the romance between the Roman Emperor and the beguiling Cleopatra, as she works to secure the throne of Egypt for herself.
Macon native Jasmine Habersham stars in the role of Cleopatra, with Daryl Freeman singing the role of Caesar.
The following Sunday, July 30, GPB will air The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, a 2019 Grammy-winning opera from composer Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell that traces the emotional trajectory of the visionary Apple co-founder as he looks back on his life and career and confronts his own mortality.
Filmed on The Atlanta Opera’s high-tech stage set with additional filming at Serenbe, the film stars John Moore in the role of Steve Jobs and Sarah Larsen as his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs.
