The Tea Area Titans made their first ever trip to Riggs High Gym and felt quite comfortable as they went back home with a 70-52 win over the Pierre Governors in boys basketball Tuesday night. Tea Area’s offense remained consistent throughout the game and finished well above a 50 percent shooting clip from the field. Both teams scored 32 points in the second half, but a 22-8 scoring advantage in the second period proved to be the biggest difference in the decisive win for the Titans. Grifin Wiebenga netted 22 points and Marshall Smythe 16 for Tea Area, who improved to 5-3 with the win. Dawson Getz scored 21 and Luke Olson 17 for the 2-5 Governors who were also outrebounded 33-18 in the contest unofficially. Pierre gets a week off before hitting the road to Box Elder next Tuesday to battle the Douglas Patriots. There was no girls game in this matchup Tuesday, as that game is scheduled by itself later in the season. The Governor girls will host Douglas next Tuesday for their next action.
