RAPID CITY – Gettysburg native Hope Owens was named Friday as volleyball head coach at Rapid City Central.

Owens served last season as an assistant for former head coach Jayna Morrill and coached one of the Cobblers’ freshman teams.

Owens played volleyball for Potter County, then graduated from Northern State in 2019, then worked for the State of South Dakota in Rapid City before becoming a teacher and coach at Central.

Central was 7-27 in 2021, finishing 18th of 19 AA schools.  Central hasn’t had a winning record since 2012 and last made the state tournament in 2013.
