We need oxygen to live, and we use wood for everything. OK, everyone plant trees.

Combustion byproducts hurt the planet and us. We can eliminate that.

Make homes 100% electric. Heat pumps for HVAC systems and induction cooktops are more efficient than gas anyway.

Only drive electric cars. The price and range issues are being fixed.

Fresh water is dangerously low around the planet. The elephant in the room is the ocean. We need to stop dancing around this problem and figure out how to desalinate water efficiently and use the byproduct (brine), so that we don’t push a problem back to the ocean.

Can we do this without burning more fossil fuels?

Scientists say nuclear reactors are safer than burning fossil fuels, but I’m not convinced we need to create power centrally and then distribute. I installed solar panels for my home and two cars. My power bills plummeted.

If the price of panels is the holdup, retrofit your home with more insulation and make windows and doors tighter. You’ll need fewer panels. Also, finance your panels equal to your average monthly bill. That way you’ve frozen your monthly expense, with the light at the end of the tunnel being no monthly energy costs.

If this sounds sophomoric, then how badly do we want to save the planet?
