SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A weekly fundraiser to support a local nonprofit organization is on the move.

It’s a game of chance that’s been going strong for more than four months.

“This will be our 18th drawing coming up on Tuesday, the day after Labor Day. The jackpot started this week at $19,881,” Dakota Dachshund Rescue’s Rodger Lacy said.

The eventual winner of the Find the Queen of Hearts fundraiser will split the jackpot with Dakota Dachshund Rescue. The organization had been hosting a weekly drawing rotating between two breweries but was recently thrown a curveball.

“Circumstances beyond anyone’s control, one of the locations their upper management decided that they were going to close the place down,” Lacy said.

Lupulin Brewing won’t close its taproom until next month, but Dakota Dachshund Rescue opted to find a new home now, landing at Remedy Brewing Company.

“The partnership that we have with Remedy with Woofstock and now we have Octoberfest coming up, it’s a good relationship and this gives us a chance to just use this facility more,” Lacy said.

“Any time that we can kind of help out the community, especially the dogs because we’re big dog lovers here at the brewery, it’s a great time for us,” Remedy Brewing Company event coordinator Aaron Nelson said.

Aaron Nelson is the event coordinator at Remedy and expects the fundraiser to hit the ground running.

“I think you’re going to start seeing a big influx in that going up a little bit more and hopefully raise a lot of money for the Dachshund Rescue,” Nelson said.

The fundraiser is also an opportunity to raise awareness and meet adoptable dogs.

“The dogs are here for anybody to come up and pet and get some dog hugs and some dog loves, but we will have fosters available every Tuesday drawing just to show what dogs are available and that they are decent dogs, they’re good-looking dogs,” Lacy said.

Until the dogs find a permanent home, they’ll make themselves at home at Remedy.

The “Find the Queen of Hearts” drawing is every Tuesday night at 7:11 at Remedy Brewing Company at 8th & Railroad in Sioux Falls.

Tickets can be purchased in person at Remedy or online.
