The splash days of free agency come and go rather quickly.

The NFL — and the Cardinals — move into the second week. Signings don’t stop. The reverberations of those signings change.

The Cardinals brought in the splashy edge rusher in Josh Sweat. They nabbed a veteran defensive line disruptor in Dalvin Tomlinson. The made sure to bring back outside linebacker Baron Browning, arguably their top priority of their own free agents. They kept starting guard Evan Brownand swing tackle Kelvin Beachum. They made sure they got a veteran backup quarterback in Jacoby Brissett.

And their inside linebacking corps got a potential overhaul with the addition of Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mykal Walker.

There are other moves that still could be made. While veteran wide receiver Zay Jones was re-signed (and Greg Dortch was tendered an offer), there remains the possibility of a veteran wide receiver. There will still likely be an offensive lineman or two, although those would be depth moves at this point.

Unless the Cardinals see someone of note on the market who is going to lower his price to their liking, this is the point all NFL teams start to look heavy at the draft. Teams will make moves on draft weekend and then see holes after, for a second round of lesser free-agent pickups.

Veterans on the market have to decide whether it makes sense to sign now, or wait out the scenarios.

Already in the mid-70s with their roster, the Cardinals also don’t have many more bodies to add pre-draft to fill out their 91-man offseason roster (90 + international exemption TE Bernhard Seikovits.)
