Four people were injured in a shooting in West Garfield Park Friday night, officials said.
Just after 9 p.m., a man was walking north on South Springfield Avenue, a block west of Garfield Park when he drew a handgun and started shooting, striking several victims before fleeing southbound, Chicago police said in a media notification log.
A 36-year-old woman was shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital where police say she’s listed in good condition. A second woman, about 20 years old, was shot in the leg and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she was listed in good condition, police said.
A 41-year-old man was shot in the back and taken to Stroger where he was listed in good condition, police said. A fourth man, about 25 years old, was shot multiple times in the back and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Paramedics responded to the 3800 block of West Monroe Street around 9:15 p.m., said Chief Juan Hernandez, spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department. Hernandez said three of the four victims were listed in serious to critical condition while being transported to hospitals.
No one is in custody and police are investigating the shooting.
