Don Peebles, a former prominent fundraiser for both of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, has criticized New York State Attorney General Letitia James for fast-tracking an effort to seize assets from former President Donald Trump.
Peebles believes James is going after Trump’s properties with guns blazing because of the likelihood Trump will win the appeal.
He spoke to Fox News about the matter and noted he is a big supporter of the AG’s work supporting minority-owned businesses.
That said, Peebles argued that the massive $454 million fine levied against Trump, which he owes the state following a civil fraud lawsuit, was excessive. His comments suggest a belief that James went after the former President, not on the basis of enforcing law, but as a personal attack.
“I have expressed concern that I think that this is a very slippery slope to selectively enforce an archaic law that has got no victim,” he stated.
Perhaps the most intriguing argument put forth by Peebles is that Letitia James is going after Trump’s properties because she knows he’s going to win his appeal.

Suggests Letitia James Is Trying To Seize Trump’s Buildings Before Trump Wins Appeal
James has made it clear that if Trump is unable to pay, she will pursue collection efforts. Reports have indicated Trump is struggling to secure an unprecedented nearly half-billion dollar bond.
His properties, including Trump Tower and a number of his golf courses, could be seized unless he can find a solution to pay the fine in full or secure the bond before Monday.
James and her team have already initiated steps to seize the assets from Trump.
Peebles told Fox that the New York AG would normally allow Trump to go through the appeals process first. Unless. Unless she wasn’t confident her case would come out on the winning side.
“I think they are confident, or think it’s likely that this will get reversed, and then there will be no punishment,” he said.
“So they’re rushing to inflict as much pain on him as they can right now because once the appeals court puts an end to this, then there will be no repercussions,” added Peebles.
He also suggested the entire case was a “tactic” to distract Trump from the campaign. Critics have suggested that is the basis for all of the legal proceedings against Trump.
How erratic and insane does one have to be for a prominent Democrat to point it out? Peebles’ comments open the door to questions as to whether or not Judge Arthur Engoron made the outlandish ruling as a means to give James a window to seize Trump’s properties.
They go after Trump using an archaic law and impose an outlandish fine. James hastily moves to collect. Then the ruling gets overturned on appeal? But she’s already seized the properties? That almost seems coordinated.

Calls For Her To Be Disbarred
Peebles’ comments echo those of Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary who accused Letitia James of acting like a third-world thug.
“Forget about Trump. Nothing to do with Trump. You think this is good for business in New York? You think this is good for business in America?” O’Leary asked in an interview with CNN.
“To take a law that we use to protect people against buying refrigerators at an overpriced value decades ago, and apply it against an individual and then talk about seizing assets like he was in Venezuela or in Cuba?”

But wow, doesn’t Peebles’ theory sound plausible? Maybe it was simply a means to seize Trump’s property all along.
Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy believes Letitia James should be disbarred.
“Letitia James should be disbarred. She prosecutes Trump baselessly,” Ramaswamy said. “She goes after meat producers in the name of fighting climate change.”
“Now the FDNY firefighters who dared to boo her & exercise their First Amendment rights are being punished. This is un-American.”
Peebles, meanwhile, told Fox last month that Democrats need to move on from President Biden.
“I don’t see how he can beat Donald Trump,” the former Obama campaign official said.
“If all that’s been thrown at the former president has been thrown at him and he’s still ahead in the polls, it’s telling us all something that Americans don’t want [Biden] and this administration anymore, and it’s time for him to move on for the good of the country.”
