The man who was once in charge of utilities in Lawrenceburg is in jail, accused of stealing several thousand dollars.Olin Clawson, the former superintendent of Lawrenceburg Municipal Utility was indicted on 19 counts which include theft, forgery and perjury.LMU provides the people of Lawrenceburg with utility services. Clawson served as the director from 2014 to 2020.Clawson is accused of altering receipts for financial gain and lying under oath.In one instance, investigators said Clawson made a $3,500 payment to a company named “Poco Buckles and Saddles” out of New Mexico to buy custom-made rodeo-style belt buckles. They were to be given as awards at the Whiskey City Rodeo in Lawrenceburg. When Clawson submitted a voucher seeking reimbursement, he asked for $4,500, according to investigators. Court documents state he manipulated electronic receipts several times.When Clawson was terminated, the city of Lawrenceburg confiscated his computer. court documents state “located on the computer was software capable of manipulating documents.”Clawson is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.A call to his attorney Thursday seeking comment was not returned. A city spokesperson had no comment.
