SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Our wet weather isn’t dampening the spirits of those who love to celebrate the Fourth of July.

In fact, some would argue that all the rain we’ve been getting makes it perfect for lighting off fireworks.

“You know it’s been really nice and cool, I can’t remember seeing so many people in hoodies in the store,” owner of Pyro City Robby Castagno said.

Mother nature has helped light the fuse to big fireworks sales this year.

Kadence Streyle is ready to spend some money.

“Maybe like $200, at the most, but it’s for me and my friends, but it’ll be fun because I’m with my friends so it’ll be fun no matter how much I spend,” Kadence Streyle said.

Sales are booming compared to the past three years, which have been on the drier side.

“Everything has kind of leveled off last couple of years, prices have relaxed with freight going down a lot of opportunity to get new stuff versus trying to get our hands on anything and everything the last couple of years, we got a lot of new stuff this year,” owner of Pyro City Robby Castagno said.

Some people come from all over like TC Abbott of Arizona, who is having a blast.

“Oh my gosh, got my grandkids here, and we’re having fun, maybe a little too much fun but it’s been a really nice time,” Abbott said.

At Pyro City if you buy a pack of these punks, 100% of the proceeds will go to Feeding South Dakota.

But for these people, they only have an appetite for the bigger, louder and more colorful.

“I just want something that goes high and looks cool,” Streyle said.

“The big things that go up in the sky with all the moisture we are really excited and buying all the big boomers today,” Abbott said.

In South Dakota, you can buy fireworks through Friday and light them until Sunday.
