SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — It’s the day after Thanksgiving which means its the official beginning of the Christmas Holiday Shopping Season. In this week’s Flashback Friday, Dennis Flanagan takes us back to 1981 where shoppers search for the perfect Christmas Presents.
If you had planned to take it easy following a big Thanksgiving Dinner know that you may have been the only one to do so. Plenty of people had another idea.
If it can be sold this Christmas season there is probably someone around to buy it.
“They are purchasing, they’re looking generally for better quality goods and being selective in what they are buying.”
“Types of things your looking for?”
“Practical things, things that people can use.”
“Had any luck?”
“Yeah, had a lot of luck.”
“I’m just the driver I’m along for the ride.”
Judging from the responses we got clothes are popular as are toys.
“From children’s toys we move into the area of adult gifts as they say the only way you can tell the difference is in the price.”
“The computers have been going very well.”
Duncan says that his store has been averaging about a dozen sales a month that’s a dozen of the three thousand dollar computers.
And where would the day after Thanksgiving be without the arrival of Santa Clause and his elves.
“I told one little kid that you know that’s how you can tell how old elves are by how fat they are and he got really upset and said but I’m getting fat just like my Uncle Joe.”
Before the holidays are over everyone will have a different story to remember
