SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The amount of fireworks complaints issued to the Sioux Falls Police were comparable to other Fourth of July holiday periods.

The Sioux Falls Police Department received 135 total complaints about fireworks on the day of the Fourth of July and 60 fireworks complaints on the day after, Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens said during Monday’s briefing.

This number is comparable to the past three years, where the number of complaints ranged from 300 to 600.

Of the 195 complaints, five fireworks citations were filed and five written warnings were issued.

Fireworks are illegal in Sioux Falls if they pop or fly. Fines for fireworks can still be issued and may cost up to $100.
