JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ind. — Firefighters in Hamilton County rescued a cat that was stuck in a tree on Sunday.

According to a Facebook post, a crew from the Jackson Township Fire Department was sent to perform a small animal rescue. Firefighters were sent to the scene after a family had called them and asked for help.

Per JTFD, the family made it a point to tell dispatchers the call was not a prank, and that it had exhaustingly tried to get the cat down before calling the fire department.

Upon their arrival at the scene, firefighters located a cat named Ralph that had climbed 30-45 feet up a tree. JTFD reported that, after some coaxing, Ralph climbed down the tree a bit.

After Ralph’s climb down, firefighters estimated he was still 30 feet off the ground. JTFD indicated that Ralph appeared to show interest in returning to the ground, but he could not find a way down.

Firefighters eventually retrieved a ladder from their engine and used it to climb up and grab Ralph.
